About Cara

Cara Sue AchterbergHi! I’m Cara Sue Achterberg, but you can call me Cara. I’m a blogger, creative writing teacher, and novelist. I live on a hillside in South Central, Pennsylvania with my three remarkable children (when they’re home), mostly adoring husband, under-utilized horses, socially awkward dog, ever-changing foster dogs, two perfect kitties, too many chickens, and a brand new puppy!

I’ve just signed a deal with Pegasus Books to publish my memoir, Another Good Dog, all about this fostering adventure. Look for it summer 2018!

I’m the author of three novels. I’m Not Her (2015), Girls’ Weekend (2016), and Praticing Normal (2017). Look for them wherever books are sold.

My book Live Intentionally: 65 Challenges for a Healthier Happier Life is about living a life on purpose in terms of the decisions you make about what you eat, how you spend your time, and how you care for your family and the earth. I promise it’s not preachy. It’s full of stories, recipes, ideas, and hopefully plenty of inspiration to help you start living the life you want to live.

You can find out all about my books and blogs at CaraWrites.com. I’d love to connect with you on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

When I’m not writing or chasing foster dogs, I can be found in my gardens, visiting wineries, or hiking through the woods somewhere. I love visiting book clubs and other groups and welcome opportunities to speak and teach about writing, organic lifestyle, and/or fostering dogs.

I would LOVE to hear from you. Use the form below to give me a shout.
