Shenandoah Dog Friendly Rentals

Nick and I love to travel with our dogs. And for years we traveled to the mountains (and wineries) of Virginia. Too often we had to leave our dogs behind because there were so few places that were dog-friendly, and many that would not allow pitbull-type dogs or multiple dogs.

Now that we’re living in Virginia, we have launched a little side business catering to people like us who want to bring their dogs with them everywhere. We’ve opened two special short-term rental houses that are not just dog-friendly, but dog-welcoming!

Both of our houses include specially curated dog spaces, plus crates, bowls, toys, treats, and other surprises. We NEVER charge a dog fee, have no restrictions for size or breed, and welcome multiple dogs.

Visit http://www.ShenandoahDogFriendlyRentals.com to learn about them and/or book a stay.

Here’s a quick peek at these special places:

Gracie’s Place

Gracie’s place is located in the heart of downtown Woodstock, Virginia, a charming historic town in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Gracie’s Place is a 1920’s Sears Roebuck house with 3 (or 4) bedrooms, 2 baths, gourmet kitchen, living room, dining room, parlor, three porches, plus a brick patio enclosed by a six-foot privacy fence.

You’ll be only a block away from a bakery, brewery, shops, restaurants, museums, and a Saturday Farmer’s Market. Dangerously, the homemade ice cream store is just out the back gate.

Woodstock is a great jumping off point for visiting battlefields, caverns, and wineries (several within a few miles of Gracie’s Place), and of course there is lots of hiking. The north fork of the Shenandoah River and Seven Bends State Park are just two miles away where you can enjoy fishing, kayaking, and tubing. Winchester, Harrisonburg, Luray, Skyline Drive, and Shenandoah National Park are easy day trips away.

(There are LOTS more pictures on the website, plus information about Woodstock and what to do in the Shenandoah Valley with your dog!)

Chateau Frankie

Chateau Frankie is a two-bedroom, two-bath log cabin on six private wooded acres in Bentonville, Virginia. It features a large deck, covered porch, and fenced yard for dogs. The cozy space includes a well-equipped kitchen, finished lower level with games/puzzles/extensive DVD collection, jacuzzi tub in the loft bathroom, plus a laundry room.

A great jumping off point for river activities on the Southern Fork of the Shenandoah River (just 3 miles away). Enjoy kayaking, canoeing, tubing, and fishing. The nearby State River Park has plenty of well-groomed trails, and there is a back-country entrance to the Shenandoah National Park at the end of our street. Luray is fifteen minutes away and Front Royal, just ten.

Note: The cabin does not have wifi, cable, or dish, but there is an aux-in feature on the large TV for you to stream movies (and a nice DVD collection). AT&T and T-Mobile have a strong enough signal to use a hot spot.
